Very primitive peek

These are the first four blocks for my daughter's double wedding ring quilt. I just wanted to get an idea of what they'd look like. I always find it easier to see if I take a photo and look at it that way. These blocks haven't even been squared up yet.
I haven't been working on it for two reasons. First because it's been to hot here, but really honestly because I'm using tone on tone white for the background which is a very fine fabric. I'm using those interfacing templates for the arcs. That meant that when I sewed them onto the backing fabric they'd go all wrinkly and puckery. I was at the shop last weekend and my friend told me I should be using stabilizer. I've heard of stabilizer but never knew what it was for. Imagine.. quilting for 6 years and I had no idea what it was for *shaking my head*. So today I tried it with the stabilizer and it's so much easier to sew! So this will get me back working on it. I've told myself no more projects (aside from my stitchery I do in the evenings) until this quilt is finished. I have a looonnnng way to go. I still have enough arcs to make about 5 more blocks but then I need to start making more.
I worked in the shop for the whole day yesterday for the first time in about a year. I was so totally exhausted by the end of the day. I definately can't do that any more. I'm fine for a few hours but full days are out of the question. I hate that. I want more energy like all the rest of the kids my age *LOL*
Going in again tomorrow for a couple of hours to learn to use the computer program to type up the forms for the quilts that will be in our quilt walk on the 16th. Once I learn how to do it I can do it from home. I don't get quite so tired at home cause I can take a break and lie down or relax on the deck.

Shirley, that is going to be beautiful. I really like the colors, could it be because of the blue and yellow?? Don't you get upset when you want to do something all day that you enjoy, and then your body says STOP. I fully understand, and it makes me just as upset as you are. I think we just need a younger body, but keep the same old brain 8>) Take care of yourself now.

That looks great I used the stabilizer to do the
arcs also ,the pattern was from a Eleanor Burns book .
I couldn't even imagine working a full day anymore ,nor do I want to .Do what you can ,it's not worth you health to push yourself .

The quilt will be so nice. I have always wanted to make one of those and wondered about the interfacing templates and how they worked. I think it will be a while before I try a double wedding ring but I do love that pattern.

Oh, I am envious. I've always wanted to do a double wedding ring, but have never been up to all the work. I've found several shortcut patterns, but never liked them either. Yours is turning out wonderfully! Sounds like you've been busy. Lane

I love the colors you selected. Your daughter is going to love it. I made a double wedding ring quilt with the printed interfacing, and I was not told to use a stabilizer in the class I was in. Of course, it is now one of my UFO's that needs to be quilted. Someday, I'll get it finished. Karen

I love your fabric choices. There's a very serene feeling to them, perfect for a bed quilt. Glad you got your motivation back by finding the stabilizer.

Lavendar growing in the wild in France. I think it is because there is a lot of rain in France and also a lot of sun. I have some lavendar in pots and I keep watering them. Twice a day when it is hot.

That is going to be stunning!!! So, stabilizer, huh? I should look that up, as I have no idea what it is for either. Do you think that would help with the puckering around some machine applique I tried with Cheryl's butterflies?
