My Magnolia agrees. In honor of the first day of Spring she burst forth a lovely bloom this morning. All of the other ones are set to bloom in the next few days. It's a shame the blooming time is so short. But I'm grateful that it blooms at all.
I've also made a Spring Resolution. Why is it always New Years that we make Resolutions? I think Spring is a pefect time. It's a rebirth and a renewal. Last night I caught part of a program on PBS by Dr. Christine Northrop. She's an OB/GYN but she makes so much life sense. She was talking about healthy lifesyle, how to start and maintain that as we grow older (that's where I come in *LOL*). One of the things she said really struck a chord with me. I've had years of therapy and I know that the psychologist had been leading me in this direction, but it never came through as clearly as it did last night. Christine said many women have suffered through abuse, violence, childhood trauma. But it's over. We are starting a new stage in our lives and we have to let go of all of that. We have to accept that our lives may not have turned out the way we planned. That's okay, we need to start today, accept ourselves as we are, and live our lives from this day forward.
I've decided I'm gonna do it. I'm not turning my back on the past, I'm filing it away so that it doesn't have so much of an impact on my life today. I'm going to move forward. I like it.
Speaking of new beginnings. Husband finally got into the air in the plane he's been building for 6 years now. I can't believe when he started it was just a big box of bits in our driveway. We live in such a neat town. He took a picture down to the hardware store where he's spent a fortune on screws and other things he's needed as he went along and the owner is posting the photo in the store for everyone to see. I love my town.
Here's his baby
For anyone who wonders what kind of airplane it is it's a GlasStar.

Oh! Your Magnolia tree is beautiful! Such a lovely bloom on there!
Great to hear that DH finally got to get up in his plane! I am sure that made him quite happy! :o)
I was very glad to hear about your moving forward. I have a friend that is reliving a very bad event every year (almost to the point of harming herself) This year she has resolved to not let it have any power. I am very proud of you. I can hope that she gets it all figured out too.
I'll be waiting a few more weeks for my magnolia to bloom but it is lovely! Christian Northrup is one of my favorite authors, very wise!
Love seeing flower pictures this time of year. I agree, Christiane Northrup makes a lot of sense. So, did DH take you up in the plane?
Hi Shirley. That is something, making a plane and flying in it. Your magnolia is beautiful. Good for you to be moving forward. Yes why not in spring. Such a good idea.
Hi Shirley I have to agree with everyone that magnolia tree is beautiful .
Good for you ,we call what you are doing "leaving it at the cross " it's not easy but you can do it .
That struck me too - leaving the past behind and believe me my past was pretty good but it's all the silly little things that we build up like "my parents didn't do anything with me...my parents didn't come to events" and on and on - let it go - it's in the past and I can change that with my kids. It's so silly when I write it but it obviously left a mark that I need to let go of! Thanks for that and also I helped my now FIL build a AVID plane once and I even got to ride in it and we had to make an emergency landing at a race track and my now husband had to drive over and pick me up - it's funny now! Have a great day! Lisa
Glad to hear it is out of the garage and in the air! And aren't small towns the greatest - they are there to support and celebrate you!
