Having said that look what I received today:
One corn dish is intact.
I was charged $20 shipping and handling to get this from the State just south of us (I'm in Canada). The best part of her packing was the tray:
The tray part didn't break but one of the handles did.
She used too large a box and simply put bubble wrap in the bottom of the box. This was done so effectively the corn dishes were just put in loose on top with no padding between them. There was a Fragile stamp on the box but we all know how far that goes as far as protecting things.
I always check the rating of sellers. But I didn't look at what all the positive ones were for. Looking at it now they were left by people she bought things from. The negative one was from someone she sold to who also had her item arrive in pieces.
She did ship quickly I'll give her that. Her website says she accepts returns but the buyer pays the postage. I've emailed her and told her I don't believe I should pay for shipping something that arrived smashed due to her carelessness. I'll keep you updated.
Now I'm heartbroken. I've wanted some vintage corn dishes for the longest time. I ordered some last year and they never did arrive. I never heard from the seller again despite numerous emails. And now this.
Sorry I haven't been around. I had some health concerns so was feeling down. I feel much better now. I haven't seen my dr yet but will be when she gets back from vacation on Aug 20.
And the quilt walk is on Sunday! Love the quilt walk. I've entered 3 this year. My work in progress hand quilting my daughter's wedding ring quilt, my son-in-laws Boston Red Sox quilt and the table runner I made for the bazaar. It's always such a fun weekend. They have a night market the night before now and a game where you are given a list of clues and have to find which quilt matches. I've never done it before cause I was an employee. This year I can do it.

How dispappointing for you. If you paid via Paypal you can lodge a dispute if the seller wont be reasonable.
I hope it all works out for you.
Grrrr! People are stupid. Of course, I say that as a person that "overpacks" everything I ship. Anyway, the only thing I ever had broken, I had bought postal insurance for and they replaced the whole cost, including the shipping. But, it was a bowl and the lady packed it in a padded envelope. It couldn't help but be broken. Good luck with the seller! And, enjoy the quilt walk. Lane
Well, poopty-doo! Those corn dishes WOULD have been really cute! I'm one that over-packs everything too. And I always buy insurance, although I've never had to use it (knock on wood)!
Is the quilt walk earlier this year? Maybe it's just that the summer has went fast! Have fun!
Will your 3 entries be judged, or are they just for show?
Oh what a disappointment .I hope she does right by you .
Well, that is a real bummer. Have you contacted the seller and told her she packed it inappropriately? Tell her you want a refund and definitely report it to paypal if you can. Have fun at the quilt walk!
I wrote to the seller and haven't heard back. eBay has a buyer protection plan but I want my postage back too. Bob could glue it butI didn't pay for things that are glued.
The quilt walk is earlier this year. It's usually closer to the 20th. But the 20th is a Friday and there's a street market on the 22 so we have to adjust. It's hard when the town you live in only has 2 main streets to use *LOL*
The show isn't really judged, it's just for fun, but there are viewer's choice ballots. So some people win a gift certificate or magazine or something.
What a total bummer. I sure hope the seller does the right thing. I would really write a review if she doesn't. I don't think you should have to pay for shipping either, you paid enough! Glad your feeling better now. Have fun at the quilt walk.
Oh Shirley how annoying is that. I don't think you are meant to have those corn dishes.
Hope you feeling much better.
sounds like your quilt walk is like our Quilt Hanging. How nice to have your work on display.
It must have been a real let down to open that package and find broken dishes. I'm sorry to hear it.
Glad your health is better.
on a lighter note, you now have a dozen friends that are on the lookout for corn dishes for you.- hope you get your set soon. cw
How disappointing! I hope you get a resolution that you are happy with. And sorry to hear you've not been feeling well - I certainly hope you are on the mend now.
