October is blood test month for me. Every three months is blood test time. But October is the one where they do who knows what and I have to fast. I know Cholesterol is one of them. The nurses at our local lab are very nice.... but today I think I got Miss Ratchet's illegitimate daughter.Even though I've had these tests for years, I have a standing order, I still get a bit nervous just before they are about to
Came home and got a call from the quilt shop. They accidentally booked 3 shows for the same weekend. So even though that will leave very little stock in the store they still want to stay open. I get too tired working full days in there so she asked if I could work 2-5 tomorrow. Works for me. So this afternoon I need to finish putting the half square triangles around my Christmas quilt so I can take it with me to leave for the long arm quilter. She picks up her orders and the shop.
By the way, I heard from Kim (Doglover) from the old blog. Remember her? She said she misses all of us from the old blog. I told her where we'd all gone so she's going to come and have a look around. She hasn't been quilting lately and hasn't had the time to blog. I told her she should come on here anyway. In some ways I do miss our original blog. It felt more "homey" somehow. But a lot of us have moved here and connected and I think that's great.

This reminds me of when we went to the USA last weekend .The guards have standard questions they ask and there is never any smiling .Last weekend we had USA guard ask us where we were going ,then smiled and said do you have any dead bodies in the trunk ,my husband and I were at first shocked then looked to see a big smile on the guards face ,Stan told him if there is any bodies the guard was more then welcome to confiscate them ,we all had a good chuckle .Is it really so hard for these people to smile and crack a joke once in a while .A nurse should really know better ,I'm sure she handles people who are nervous everyday ,guess she left her bed side manners at home that day .
Getting your blood tested is difficult enough without having to deal with someone who is less than friendly. I dread getting blood tests because they have such a hard time finding a vein. It usually takes 2-4 sticks before they get it. They get a little snippy sometimes when I ask for their best person, but the attitude goes away after they've failed a couple of times and then have to go get someone better!
Poor Louise Fletcher. No matter what else she plays, she'll always be Nurse Ratched. I hate blood draws, too. Once I got a guy that pulled back and plunged the needle into my arm like an old pinball pull. I have no idea how he hit anything, but he did. I've never watched again. Take care and don't work to hard tomorrow. Lane
I know Kim the one that ran the old blog is on here already Kim Noblin. I found her blog by accident one night while I was surfing. I should post it on my blog so you all can see it. Sorry about all your blood test. My mom has an awful time once a month getting hers done. Did you get your envelope yet?
I have to say I'm the best stick on our unit. I'm the one they come looking for when they can't find the vein. Maybe it has something to do with the little prayer I say before I stick someone "Dear God...PLEASE quide me in finding this vein". Works everytime...I even surprise myself sometimes. Love the picture of Nurse Ratchet. Sorry you did not have a good experience.
I'm with you on hating blood tests. They usually stick me 4 or 5 times, I think that is why I hate it so much. I'm glad you found Kim, I hope she has a chance to stop and come visit us all. I too miss the old blog, I guess 'cause I just got spoiled to having everybody in one place, but at least most of us are together now. Take care of yourself.
Of course, it is different than drawing blood, but Jim and I just had our flu shots yesterday and the nurse was so gentle!
When Jim had a procedure a few years ago, he had a horrible nurse (happened to be guy), luckily a different nurse got the meds in Jim before he punched the first one! HA!
